The Pomona Student Union aims to increase critical dialogue and discussion on campus.
The Pomona Student Union is committed to raising the level of honest and open dialogue on campus. By helping students become more knowledgeable and better informed on the social and political issues that confront our society, we create informed citizens to better serve us all.
A nonpartisan organization run by students and supported by faculty and the administration, the Pomona Student Union focuses on promoting and preserving the intellectual diversity of the public sphere on campus. The Pomona Student Union extends these values beyond the classroom, engaging the community in the search for progress.
Underpinning the goals and aims of the Pomona Student Union is the tenet that one cannot possess a firm belief in anything unless it is challenged. To increase informed decision-making in Claremont and beyond, the Pomona Student Union seeks to foster an environment in which students are exposed to a multiplicity of perspectives.
Towards these ends, the Pomona Student Union invites prominent speakers from across the spectrum to talk and debate. In addition to bringing in speakers, the Pomona Student Union sponsors student and faculty debates and panels, as well as informal social events structured around current issues.

Aaron Sege Co-Vice President of Finance 2016-2017
I’m a junior majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. I come from Brookline, Massachusetts--a suburb that pretends it isn’t a suburb. My interests include politics, law, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, poverty, public education, rock climbing, and puns.
Adriana Gonzalez Committee Chair 2016-2017
Currently, I am on track to configuring my academic career and reconfiguring my life. I aim to major in Public Policy Analysis with a concentration in Sociology, with the hopes of unraveling the Chican@/Latin@ experience within that realm. If I could be anything I want to be without the conception of time, however, I would be an artistic astronaut that discovers hidden temples during summers. I love food, creating something out of nothing, biking, taking naps when I am not supposed to, reading, looking at the stars, and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to learn anything they want to.

Hi, I'm a rising sophomore here at Pomona who will likely double major in English and something else such as Politics (but please don't make me decide right now). I went to high school in Rhode Island, but was a bit of a nomad growing up. Literature is my passion, as well as social justice issues such as mass incarceration, and cycles of racial discrimination and poverty. I love backpacking and traveling, and have been to five out of the seven continents so far.
I am a sophomore at Pomona, pursuing a major in either Environmental Analysis or Neuroscience. My friends call me a fake Premed kid, but I actually do love helping people, so we'll see where that takes me. I grew up in Houston, TX, but I now reside in Fort Wayne, IN. I love playing tennis, cooking, writing, and watching all kinds of movies and TV shows. I am a middle child, so you can make whatever assumption you please. For some reason I've adopted the following nicknames, DJ parn, chinti, parn parn, and some others I can't think of. But overall, I am a good listener, attentive, and eager to learn from the people around me.
Hi! I am a sophomore with an intended major in International Relations and a potential minor in Bio (we’ll see about that) – lol liberal arts, am I right? I was born and raised in Pasadena, California, but since my Father is from France and his parents from Senegal, West Africa, I’ve had a very international, multi-cultural, upbringing that has influenced my life significantly! My passions include dance (I’ve been a dancer for the majority of my life), law, global health, cultural immersion, helping others, food, nature adventuring (particularly the beach and hiking!), and learning. To be honest, you can talk to me about anything because I love to talk, and if you are a person I will probably want to know all about you! I am definitely a people pleaser and have always been drawn to helping others. If you ever need help with anything come find me and I WILL work it out. Just don’t ask me to build anything, that’s my little sister’s set of expertise.

I am a rising wise fool interested in law, public policy, and capitalism. Home is Koreatown, Los Angeles. I'm a runner, NPR aficionado, humanist, casual foodie, and frequent flier.
I'm a pre-med sophomore interested in biology, psychology, and public health. Home is River Edge, NJ. I'm a drummer, basketball aficionado, rabbit lover, and aspiring polyglot.
I was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and moved to the states when I was eleven. I have lived in Silver Spring, Maryland ever since. I am a Politics Major and Sociology minor. My favorite shows are Parks and Rec, Law and Order SVU and Game of Thrones. I love mangos, dried coconut and banana bread.Naps are my best friend. I enjoy driving for fun even if I have nowhere to go. I enjoy running and have completed countless 5Ks, 10Ks and half marathons. I am currently training for my first full marathon, which I plan to do before I turn 21. I am generally a friendly person so if you ever want to talk or have a meal just message me!
Hey y’all! I’m Justina, a sophomore from Bellevue, WA who does not intend to major in Math, CS, or the natural sciences — and is therefore undecided. I am a recently converted herbivore so when I’m not maintaining my food insta account and stalking vegans on social media, I enjoy reading, writing, cooking, running, and eating sweet potatoes. My interests include but are not limited to: social justice politics, foodscapes, existentialism, environmental racism, education culture/systems, and spoken word.
My name is DeDe and I'm from Chicago. I love to dance, act, and write poetry. I am a Sociology major at Pomona. A few of the other organizations I'm a part of are Pan-African Student's Association, Reverb Dance Team, Black Womyn's Collective, and I'm a Posse Scholar. If you want to talk or catch lunch just message me on Facebook.
I'm a sophomore from Vancouver, Canada, and I'm intending to major in Public Policy Analysis with a Bio concentration. My passions range from medicine and public health to cookie dough ice cream. Around campus I'm also involved in Model UN, TSL and Moneythink. Outside of class, I love to read and play a wide range of intramural sports with my friends.
I'm a sophomore pursuing a double major in Chemistry and Economics. I spend most of my week chugging through three STEM lab classes & Macro Theory, but on campus, I am also heavily involved in the Asian American Mentoring Program, the 7C Asian American Advisory Board, Health Bridges, and The Balcony (5C student-run art gallery). I am very interested in API/A issues, health equity, intersectionality and identity politics, and art & activism. In my free time, I run a high fashion blog, play Candy Crush excessively, and eat lots and lots of avocados.
I compete on the swim team and the baseball team, am a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi, and write for the Claremont Independent. When I'm not doing those things, I enjoy cooking, doing krav maga, and making balloon animals.
My name is Lily Liu. I am a huge fan of board games, chess, and puzzles. I find inspirations in reading, traveling, hiking, and volunteering. I love trying out new things, whether it is a new dish or a new sport (that is how I got into Tae Kwon Do on a whim :D ). I am always ready to start something new, whether it is a club or a business venture.
I am passionate about entrepreneurship, especially social entrepreneurship, because I believe that businesses can be an efficient way to provide solutions to many social problems that the government has failed to address. As a Math and Economics double major, I am interested in the intersections of math and social sciences, and in ways of benefiting the society using data.
I am a sophomore at Pomona College, currently *want* to major in ‘All the Possible Classes you Can Take that’ll Blow your Mind’ and a minor in ‘Ideas in Action and not in the Abstract’, but will probably just major in Psychology… I am from Israel, into social justice and figuring out what exactly that means, into the political ‘international student’ experience, EDUCATION and radical pedagogy, dialogue on campus and figuring out how to go beyond the Pomona bubble.
I was born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. I lived there for 11 years before coming all the way to California for middle and high school, and now college! I return home every summer and winter break because my immediate family still lives there. This biculturalism is a significant part of my identity because although I'm technically still an international student and consider myself Nepali, my formative years were spent in the U.S. and I have come to love and view the country almost as my own. I love stressing about the future, trying to keep up with current events, anything related to soccer, pseudo-philosophizing, and deep conversations with friends or sometimes even with random people when I'm not feeling too introverted.
Terez is a junior from Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, and she is especially passionate about community engagement and medicine. Terez co-coordinates Learning in Collaboration and the Hunger and Homelessness Initiative at Pomona College's Draper Center for Community Partnerships, and she is a member of IDEAS at the Claremont Colleges. She aims to increase her awareness of the communities to which she belongs and those around her in order to help create more just systems in those communities.
Terez is a Chemistry major and plans to become a pediatric cardiology physician-scientist. She loves reading, listening to music, crafting, belly-laughing, and getting to know people and places!
My name is Teofanny Saragi and I am a sophomore majoring in Public Policy Analysis/Sociology with a strong interest in Asian American Studies. I was born and raised in Southern California, the place that I most certainly call home. I am passionate about increasing educational access and attainment for underrepresented minorities, particularly Southeast Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. I also love dogs, music, puns, and green tea flavored food items!
